Dear Seagate
How well will Pomegranate and Grape Seed Extract work together for helping to keep the heart arteries clean? Grace to You.
Thank you kindly,
Alex
Dear Alex,
When people ask such specific questions about possible blockages around the heart, more than likely they already saying to me that they already have some issues going on there. Your email was passed along to me because I usually have more suggestions on this topic for people to consider. These may already be things you are doing. But if not, they are some other things that are in addition to supplements that I would do if I were worried about my heart and its arteries. For perspective, I am almost 62 and am trying to keep my heart and circulation in somewhat okay condition so that I can keep diving <– those pictures were from a dive a year ago.
These two additional things are as important as the olive oil and fish oil and the grape seed extract and pomegranate you asked about. They all need to be done as part of a change in lifestyle–
A. Diet — Cut down and try and eliminate the carbs in your diet. This is really the source of the cholesterol buildup which can lead to plaque clogging the arteries. Take a look at Doug Kaufmann’s website, read some of his books –especially The Fungal Link — and try his Phase I Diet. Taking a couple of supplements that are good for the heart will not overcome a bad diet.
B. Exercise — If you are not doing so already, you need at least a half hour of vigorous exercise each day. They don’t call it cardio exercise for no reason. As we get older, feel more tired, have a few extra pounds around the gut, and have more aches and pains, we have a lot of excuses not to do this. But this is more important than ever. If you are in really bad shape or have some health issue that may affect how you begin an exercise program, you may need someone supervising you at the beginning so you don’t invite a heart attack. (I have worked my way up to swimming a mile 4 or 5 times a week plus one day in the gym. But getting to this level took some time.)
So ….. if you eat right, exercise, and take the correct supplements, basically make a big change in your lifestyle … you will begin feeling good, sleep better, havie more energy and being in such good shape … that being worried about your heart will no longer seem a reason for concern.
Sincerely,
Seagate

i have read that egg yolks are one of the most common sources of cholesterol. do you cut back on your egg yolk intake or strictly eat egg whites?
Swimming 4 or 5 miles a week – you are a fish! I can’t say the same for my exercise, I am more focused on diet and taking supplements to cut back on cholesterol.
Exercise is really important but I think many of us would take it more seriously if we were involved with some kind of group effort. I went to the gym for a while but I definitely zoned out when I was exercising. I started doing Crossfit – it’s more expensive and tough but I’ve never stuck with a routine so much!
Can all of those supplements you mentioned be mixed together in a smoothie of some sort? Sounds easier to mix them together at once.
Seagate replies
Hi Ralf- Sure, we mix them in smoothies all the time. Just not too much olive leaf as it will carry along a naturally bitter taste into the smoothie.
