How to Control HPV Naturally Through Diet and Herbal Remedies

The human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the world and part of a group of 150 related viruses. Some types of HPV can cause warts, while others can cause cancer. Both men and women are affected by the condition because it is transmitted through intimate skin-to-skin contact.

Nearly all adults get HPV at some point in their lives, but it often has no symptoms and is naturally fought off by the body’s immune system. However, some people aren’t that fortunate and require treatment to keep HPV under control. Although there is no cure for the HPV virus, there are many natural ways that you can control it and remain symptom-free through diet and herbal remedies.

Quit Smoking

Many people have relied on home remedies and herbal treatments to keep their HPV in check. For example, oregano oil and echinacea have shown to be effective for reducing warts associated with HPV. Other wart-fighting remedies are calendula and goldenseal. And mushrooms have anti-viral properties that can counteract the effects of the virus.

Meanwhile, curcumin, which is contained in the turmeric spice, has antioxidant properties that help the body fight HPV. A study published in Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention revealed that test subjects who used a vaginal cream with curcumin, aloe vera, amla, and reetha had a higher HPV clearance rate than those given a placebo. Individuals who used a curcumin vaginal capsule also had higher clearance rates in this study.

Foods to Fight HPV

The foods that you put in your body can have a profound effect on your body’s ability to fight off HPV naturally, so it may be time to adjust your diet if you have this condition. Cruciferous vegetables like kale, cabbage, and cauliflower may help slow down the progression of precancerous legions, according to research. Foods rich in beta-carotene, vitamin C, and antioxidants can help the healing process as well. If you eat meat products, choose ones that are certified organic and that have no added hormones to avoid unwanted estrogen intake.

Medical Alternatives

If natural remedies do not treat HPV and cervical dysplasia effectively, medical intervention may be required. Common procedures to treat precancerous cells caused by HPV include laser loop electrosurgical excision, laser therapy, cryocauterization, and cervical conization. Women are much more likely to require medical intervention than men for HPV-related conditions.
