Would you believe that most of the “extra virgin olive oil” on your grocery store’s shelves isn’t actually pure olive oil? It’s true! Most olive oils that enter the U.S. market are being watered down with sesame, soybean, sunflower, and peanut oil. Consumers who believe they are making the healthy transition away from chemically-processed vegetables are being duped by deceptive labeling.
So to help you live a 100% pure and natural lifestyle, we’ve developed our very own Seagate brand of extra virgin olive oil. We hand-pick our own olives and maintain control of the entire process from planting to harvesting, producing, and bottling. With our oil, you won’t have to worry about any other unwanted or unhealthy oils because our olive is 100% pure.
To make our extra virgin olive oil, we cold-press the olive and use gravity-fed filtration to remove large olive particles from the vegetable’s skin and any pulp that may have squeezed through the press. We don’t use any heat or chemicals in our process, and there are no other steps to our process besides filling up the bottles.
Extra virgin olive oil has proven to reduce the risk of heart disease, a condition that affects a startling percentage of the American population. In fact, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) suggests that, “eating 2 tablespoons (23 grams) of olive oil daily may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease due to the monounsaturated fat in olive oil.” Our olive oil contains very high levels (11 grams per 14 gram serving) of the monounsaturated fat, oleic acid. Olive oil has also been linked to lower cholesterol levels and controlled blood sugar levels for people with type-2 diabetes.
But as the Mayo Clinic’s Dr. Donald Hensrud has pointed out, even healthier fats, like extra virgin olive oil, are high in calories so you should only consume them in moderation. Always make sure to store olive oil in a dark, room-temperature cupboard because light, heat, and air can actually affect its taste. Some people even like to store olive oil in the refrigerator. Since olive oil’s taste can diminish over time, most people choose to use it within six month to a year after opening.
Our high quality oil has a light green color and a very pleasant olive taste. Unlike some less pure oils, you won’t get that bitter or acidic residual aftertaste either. Many of our customers have found it impossible to go back to the impure olive oil they once used used after trying our 100% pure creation. And since olive oil is a great alternative to butter, as well as other oils, you’ll quickly discover healthy and delicious new ways to eat bread, vegetables, and your favorite recipes!
