What’s the Difference Between Olive Oil Capsules and Liquid Olive Oil?

Posted on December 18, 2014July 15, 2019 by Alyssa Ochs

Most of you already know that pure extra virgin olive oil is scientifically proven to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, thanks to the monounsaturated fat it contains.   This benefit is so strong that the FDA, which normally prohibits any disease claim for any food or health food product, allows this statement on olive oil labels – “Limited and not conclusive scientific evidence suggests that eating 2 tablespoons (23 grams) of olive oil daily may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease due to the monounsaturated fat in olive oil.”

But what if you don’t like the taste of olive oil or have a difficult time incorporating the recommended 23 grams into your daily diet? Olive oil capsules were designed with folks like this in mind.  But are they really as healthy and effective as liquid olive oil?

Unique Benefits of Olive Oil Capsules

One Seagate Extra Virgin Olive Oil Softgel contains 800 mg of monounsaturated fat, which is almost entirely composed of Oleic Acid plus 5 mg natural Vitamin E added for antioxidant stability, 5 mg of Omega-3  and 190 mg of saturated and polyunsaturated fats that are naturally-occurring in olive oil.

Unique Benefits of Liquid Olive Oil

Olive oil is most commonly used in liquid form for cooking, marinading, and dipping. Not only do most people enjoy the taste of pure extra virgin olive oil, but the liquid can be used for a variety of other uses too. First of all, olive oil makes a great deep conditioner for dry, damaged hair. It is also an excellent moisturizer for skin irritations and dryness, and it is a common ingredient in natural shaving creams, natural soaps, and cosmetic products. The key to this is that the liquid olive oil that you purchase be pure. There are no other oils blended into Seagate’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and it is 100% pure.

Which Do I Choose?

The olive oil is identical in either Seagate product. Therefore, the decision of which one to choose will be based upon budget and whether you wish to taste the oil.

If you’re on a budget, the liquid olive oil provides a much larger volume compared to the capsule bottles and is therefore more economical.

The capsule bottles have a longer shelf life, as long as you keep them in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Capsules are more convenient to take with you to work or while you travel.

Liquid olive oil tends to be more versatile, more effective for topical application, and more quickly absorbed into the body. We recommend having a bottle of both the liquid and capsule varieties on hand. Both Seagate Olive Oil bottles are inexpensive.

      Hi Judith,
We do not sell to distributors in Canada … because of the dual-labeling requirement. Therefore, you would have to order from us direct off of our website. We ship direct to a lot of customers throughout Canada. So, getting the product to you would not be a problem. Thank you
