Will Olive Leaf Extract interfere with antibiotics?

A customer named Steve recently asked two very important questions —

Can a person take olive leaf while on antibiotics?

Can olive leaf capsules be taken daily on a continuous basis?

Seagate replied:

Hi Steve,

Twenty years ago when we first started processing Olive Leaf Extract, we used to recommend just using it when feeling sick or for some specific purpose. However, 20 years of experience and customer feedback has shown that there is no reason why you could not keep taking it daily. It does not behave like an antibiotic and lose its effectiveness over time with continual use.

Olive Leaves (olive leaf extract) do not interfere with antibiotics. The olive and its leaves have been part of our food supply for over 10,000 years. Our gut bacteria have adapted over time to not react to the phytochemicals contained in the olive.
However, the purpose of this exercise is to try and get off the antibiotics.  If you took both (the olive leaf and antibiotics) at the same time, how would you know which one was working?
Thank you

Many customers are concerned about whether taking natural remedies, health foods, or homeopathic medicines will interfere with their use of prescription antibiotics.  The natural products are mild, are considered foods, and rarely have negative side-effects.  Perhaps Steve’s question really should be whether taking antibiotics long term for his ailment would cause some long-term side-effects on his health — diarrhea, colitis, permanent altering of your gut’s friendly bacteria, and the promotion of growth of antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria in your body and other dangerous pathogens … leading to a compromised immune system and possible long-term development of auto-immune diseases.
The word antibiotic broken into its root words means: anti-life. Antibiotics can in certain cases like pneumonia be useful when used short term and for a specific purpose. However, these sorts of drugs are dangerous, toxic to your body as they are to the germ, and are becoming less effective due to the constantly mutating germs.  This is why in recent years, people are now seriously studying alternative remedies to help them avoid antibiotics. Natural remedies can be very effective and will do you no harm.

This is the way a coral reef should look. Lots of small fish swimming randomly. Many different varieties of coral showing a diversity of color and growth. Unfortunately with rising temperatures, higher carbon dioxide levels, and contamination, this picture is becoming an exception.
