The FDA is trying to take away the ability of Naturopathic Doctors to write prescriptions for use of compounded medicines in their offices and in interstate commerce. Compounding medications have been around for a long time and have been proven to be very safe and effective. However, since this is a viable alternative to pharmaceutical drugs, the FDA is using their own interpretation of the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act in order to make further restrictions and protect their friends at Big Pharma.
Whether or not you are directly effected or even use compounded formulas, you may wish to stop further encroachment by the Federal Government and the FDA on State’s rights for products that are a safe alternative to pharmaceutical drugs, based solely upon the FDA’s interpretation of a law passed by Congress. Similar attempted FDA intrusions have been attempted into creating very restrictive regulations to alternative therapies during the past 2 years that required Senate intervention, usually by Senator Orrin Hatch, who happens to be 81 years old and likely in his last term of office.
Read more about Section 503A of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and the proposed changes. The language is pretty technical. However, if you believe that the small physician and the compounding pharmacy need to be protected from further control by the FDA, click here to have an electronic form sent directly to your State’s 2 Senators asking them to co-sponsor Bill S. 1406 which would tell the FDA that they cannot override individual State regulations of compounded medicines.
Do not limit states rights
Let the consumer choose
