Folks its time to calm down. You can disagree with articles we post or with other people’s comments on our site, but do so politely.
We would like to report to our readers that when we post an article on Facebook related to the dangers of GMO’s, the great majority of people write comments that support the Anti-GMO position. We also get some very strong, usually very nasty responses from the pro-GMO people who turn out to be mostly farmers and their friends. We have been forced to delete those comments because of the frequent use of expletives and inappropriate language.
While Seagate is generally a site about eating healthy, exercise and helping you to make the right choices about your health, sometimes we stray onto controversial topics. We do not allow people to belittle others people for expressing their ideas and beliefs. It seems that there is a daisy chain of trollers on Facebook who are focused on this one cause, to keep their right to produce GMO crops.
While Seagate is very firmly on the side against genetic manipulation of food in laboratories especially if the purpose is to make the crops more resistant to pesticides or herbicides, we welcome civil discussion and debate. However, we cannot allow comments filled with disparaging remarks meant to hurt other people.
The farmers, paid scientists, distributors of GMO seeds and sales reps from the biotech industry who are trying to protect their turf by filling opposing blogs and Facebook sites with profanity are being deleted and banned. So while we had a lot of activity on the recent Monsanto Paying Mommy Bloggers Facebook post, we were forced to delete a few that were the angry disparaging comments.
So while you are driving around in your air conditioned $220,000 tractors complete with GPS and auto-pilot, lighten up folks. or we might start believing that you are inhaling some of those fumes that you are spraying on your crops (and our food) … which might be causing you to become very angry people. Calm down, enjoy the spray or you will be banned.
