Seagate has maintained full production during the Covid-19 epidemic. Our farming, fishing and raw materials processing operations are all at 100%. However, since March, we have experienced some delays and shortages, occasionally severe from our packaging and shipping vendors due to interruptions in the supply chain. There have also been a few instances of price-gouging. We deal with these and eliminate those suppliers when this occurs. Although we produce all of our own raw materials, we are still dependent upon some outside suppliers for misc. other items.
In order to maintain some stability and order, we have had to remove some items from Buy 1 Get 1 free, such as the Olive Oil bottles. However, for now the key products that we have been able to maintain on special will continue:
We will remain flexible in our response to these problems, including building up inventories of scarcer items, changing or having back-up suppliers, and finding alternative shipping methods. However, we anticipate that this situation will continue through 2021. In some cases, we may need to further reduce the Buy 1 Get 1 specials offered as a better alternative to across-the-board price increases, though all options will remain open as necessary.
As pointed out in other blog entries, the best place to go to escape the virus is under the water. Unfortunately, to get to the Caribbean and its warm water, you still have to take multiple planes. Right now, not the greatest option. But at lease we can look back at the photos from previous trips. These fellows below are Bigeye Snappers. Notice the small crustacean hitching a ride on one of their noses.
